With 28 years of experience in foreign affairs and expertise in emergency services to American citizens and visa operations, Mr. Tony Edson provides consummate knowledge of The Department of State and outstanding leadership skills to our Deep Water Point clients.
Accomplishments
During his tenure as a foreign service officer at the Department of State, Mr. Edson led various assignments internationally and domestically as a diplomat and consular officer. He has also held the position of COO of the Directorate of Visa Services and was responsible for global policy and operations. While serving as deputy assistant secretary of Visa Services, Mr. Edson was actively involved in testifying before Congress, briefing members of Congress and interacting with senior government and private sector officials. In addition to his senior policy offices with the State Department, he has served abroad in Japan, India, Thailand and Indonesia and has extensive travel and living experiences throughout Asia.
Mr. Edson is well known for his superior leadership and guidance, particularly in areas related to visa, immigration, travel and boarder management. He has exceptional savvy in planning service delivery, strategic business process analysis and implementation of biometrics in business processes.
Personal
Mr. Edson holds a BA in East Asian language and culture from the University of Kansas and an MA in Management from the Kellogg and Wharton schools through an international program hosted at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. He also received an MS in national security strategy from the National War College and is a certified Project Management Professional. Mr. Edson is fluent in Japanese and Indonesian.
