Mrs. Betsy Murphy is a senior federal executive with over 30 years of experience working in the public and private sectors. Her specialization in federal contracting, program management, business process re-engineering, and staff development enable her to bring unparalleled expertise to all of her Deep Water Point clients.

Accomplishments

Prior to joining Deep Water Point, Mrs. Murphy served as corporate vice president for contracts, pricing and compliance at Stanley Associates. She played an active role in the proposal lifecycle and award activities, including targeting, win strategy development and execution, proposal development, and post award contract administration.

Over the course of her career with the federal government, Mrs. Murphy held numerous senior leadership and management positions at the US Department of State including managing director of Global Financial Services, deputy assistant secretary of Public Affairs and director of Acquisition Management. She has a diverse portfolio in acquisition management, quality management systems, strategic planning, outreach and communication.

As deputy assistant secretary for Public Affairs, Mrs. Murphy had the privilege to serve under Secretary Colin Powell. In addition, she functioned as the executive director for the Public Affairs Bureau where she was responsible for overall management issues and program development. Before joining Public Affairs, Mrs. Murphy was part of the Bureau of Administration. Initially, she was the director/deputy director for the Office of Acquisition. From there she moved into the position of executive secretariat for the Reorganization of Foreign Affairs Agencies. Mrs. Murphy started her career in federal service as a civilian in the Department of the Navy and was responsible for acquisition/cost analysis for major shipboard weapons systems. 

Personal

Mrs. Murphy holds a BS in special education and political science from the University of Pittsburgh. She also earned a certificate from Michael Hammer as a re-engineering professional and from DoD as an acquisition specialist. She has received numerous awards from both the Department of the Navy and the Department of State.
